1. Who we are

Eden Earth ("Eden Earth," "we," "us," or "our") is an iOS and web application operated by Julian Block that helps people log environmental cleanups, join local circles, and measure ocean and community impact. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

We may collect:

Account information — email address, password (stored hashed by our auth provider), and display name.
Profile information — city, bio, cause, optional age range or age, optional gender, avatar and cover photos, and onboarding preferences.
Usage and impact data — eco actions you log, streak and EcoScore data, badges, community posts, circle membership, event RSVPs, and in-circle messages you send.
Photos and camera content — images you upload for your profile or capture for cleanup / recycling classification. Camera and photo library access are used only when you choose those features.
Device and diagnostics — approximate device type, OS version, app version, crash logs, and basic performance data needed to keep the app reliable.
Marketing site analytics — limited page-view and CTA events on our website to understand interest in Eden Earth. We do not sell this data.

We do not require precise GPS location to use the core app. If you share a city or join local events, that information is based on what you provide.

3. How we use information

Create and secure your account
Provide EcoScore, streaks, badges, community, events, and messaging features
Classify cleanup or recycling photos you submit (including via AI vision models)
Moderate unsafe or abusive content and enforce our Terms
Send optional product updates or reminders you enable
Improve reliability, fix bugs, and understand feature usage in aggregate
Comply with law and protect users, the service, and our rights

4. AI processing

When you use scan or cleanup-vision features, images and related prompts may be sent to third-party AI providers (currently Google Gemini via our backend) to generate classifications and impact estimates. Do not submit images of other people without permission, or any content you do not want processed for this purpose. AI outputs can be inaccurate; treat them as guidance, not professional or legal advice.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to run Eden Earth:

Service providers — hosting, database/auth/storage (e.g. Supabase), AI inference (e.g. Google), and infrastructure partners who process data on our instructions.
Other users — profile details, posts, event RSVPs, and circle messages you choose to share in community features are visible to other participants as designed in the product.
Legal / safety — when required by law, or to investigate fraud, abuse, or security issues.
Business transfer — if Eden Earth is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer under continued confidentiality obligations.

6. Data retention

We keep account and impact data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data associated with it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records for security, dispute resolution, backups, or legal compliance. Community content you posted may remain in de-identified or residual form if removal would break other users' threads; contact us if you need specific content removed.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (including California and the EEA/UK), you may have additional rights such as portability or restriction of processing. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

8. Children

Eden Earth is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it. Parents or guardians who allow a teen to use the app are responsible for supervising that use.

9. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards such as encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls, and provider-managed authentication. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong unique password and protect your device.

10. International transfers

We may process information in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection laws than your home country.

11. Third-party links and stores

The App Store, social platforms, or linked sites have their own privacy practices. Apple's handling of purchases, Apple ID, and device data is governed by Apple's policies, not this one.

12. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page with an updated date. Material changes may also be noted in the app or by email when appropriate. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
